Question: Is swimming good for fat loss and mucsle?

Iv'e recenty got s ymca memshp. And I'm so so excited b/ c I want to swim. I would like to lose fat and build mucsle. I'm a girl, I'm 13 yrs. Old 5'8 and 155 pounds in not big but I would like to lose some fat and tone up (exspecualy for bikini season).I know that I will burn fat quicker b/ c I'm 13 and my metabolism will work faster. But anyways I would like to know some tips.:]please And if I'm going to be swimming for about 5- 6 days a wk. For a long time (30 min.- hour) will it be fine to eat what I like since I will be burning most of it off? I'm not going to be pigging out or eating unhealthy everyday.I don't eat fast food much and eat out. I'm 13 and I don't want to be dieting and stressing about my weight and counting calories. I just want to be a happy normal teenager who doesn't worry about her weight.

Swimming is great exercise!!!! Go for it!!! Look, you've got a high metabolism because you are young. If you get lots of exercise, you won't have to diet or anything. But everyone needs to eat more fruits and veggies.

Swimming is an exceptional exercise. You use all the muscle and an excellent cardio vascular exercise. Did you know you can also walk in water for exercise?

YES! swimming is one of the best sports for you it does tone you and it helps you lose weight not to metion how incredible it is for your health. i'm 5'4 and 106 but i'm toned it helps me. but beware the more you swim the hungier you get kept a healthy diet despite how much you want to eat after swimming

It's very good for your entire body. It even increases your lung capacity. Swimming is one of the best exercises there is. You should absolutely do it not just for fat loss, but for your overall health. Also you don't have to worry about your weight anyway! You might feel overweight but you're right in normal range. You're just tall for your age!

Swimming can be very good for muscles, as well as keeping tendon and ligaments healthy so you do not get sprains. I have been told the best way to lose weight is to jog though, and I believe this to be true, whenever I get a little bit too blubbery I just go for a good jog once a day, after about 2 or 3 weeks I am right back in shape I would still swim though, as it will keep your back very strong so you do not get an injury while doing other exercises.

Absolutely, swimming is good for weight loss and building muscle. The water provides great resistance to your movements, which makes you work harder, plus it is low-impact, which reduces injuries to almost nothing. Plus swimming is fun. You know, do the laps, but also see if there are times when the ymca provides water games or water aerobics. These classes will increase your exercise, but more importantly, they are fun and you don't realize you are working out until you get out and realize that you are tiiiirrrrreeeedddd!!!!! Swimming will help you sleep better, too, which is important for healthy bodies! Good luck!
