What would be a better workout for fat loss?

Question: What would be a better workout for fat loss?

Running 10 miles outside 5 days a week with weight workouts after here and there. orr running 6 miles on the treadmill then going to a 45- 50 minutes cycling class then doing a half hour of weights? 10 miles each session

Are you talking about 10 miles of running each session of 10 miles total in 5 sessions? It makes a big difference. Studies show that the best way to burn fat and achieve general fitness is through a combination of weights and cardio, which is what I recommend as a routine. But you also need to do a search on "overtraining " to understand that you're probably overdoing it. Exercise yields benefits up to a point, and beyond that point you're only exposing yourself to injury and actually undermining your efforts to lose fat. Work smarter, not harder, and eat junk-free food -- that's also my advice. After you've burned the first 1,000 calories, the next 500 do considerably less for fat loss and fitness.

Weights will build muscle. I would suggest doing 4 miles with an hour of cycling. Remember, running will build muscle too. It is smarter to loose weight by eating right and then build the muscle, so the fat does not turn to muscle. So... loose weight by eating right and some exercising and once you have lost enough weight to meet your goal, work on building muscle if you want. And set a goal for yourself!
